梅蘭芳
戲在黎明前都很好

明報 2009.1.5陳凱歌導演《梅蘭芳》長達兩個半小時，坦白說我毫無期望，但意外地前半部拍出水準，把民國初年京劇藝人刻劃得細膩別致，比得獎舊作《霸王別姬》有聲有色。不過到黎明出場演壯年梅蘭芳，吃力而不大討好，後半部就劇力不足了。
京劇男扮女裝的梅蘭芳（1894-1961），是四大名旦之首，亦是國際聲望最高的中國戲曲演藝家。此片前段由出身漢劇、越劇的新星余少群飾演青年梅蘭芳，在台上扮旦角似模似樣，富於女性美感，他的台下男裝則溫文俊俏，充滿吸引力。
除了余少群表現出色，曾主演陳凱歌成名作《黃土地》、《大閱兵》的王學圻，在上半部演前輩老生十三燕，非常老練精彩，這角色看來影射京劇殿堂級名伶譚鑫培（1905年中國首部電影《定軍山》，就是紀錄譚鑫培功架的無聲短片）。
還有孫紅雷演學貫中西的邱如白，對梅蘭芳此後的成就影響很大，顯然以齊如山為藍本，孫紅雷今次亦演技甚好。
黎明在中段才亮相，演結了婚生了孩子的梅蘭芳，與女扮男裝名伶孟小冬發生婚外戀情。章子怡演孟小冬不錯，但黎明一味扮憂鬱「情聖」，缺乏神采，登台演男旦則似乎有替身，不是他親自表演。
下半部拍攝梅蘭芳往美國演出成功，然後表揚他在日軍侵華時拒絕通敵，堅持愛國，可是拍不出高潮，愈來愈乏味。
此片不是梅蘭芳真正傳記片，人物半真半假，女主角其實是陳凱歌的妻子兼製片人陳紅，扮演梅蘭芳夫人福芝芳，佔戲多過章子怡。卻完全不提梅蘭芳首位太太王明華，亦不提梅蘭芳赴美國之前曾往日本演出，然後又到蘇聯，都很哄動。[按：德國戲劇大師布萊希特看了梅蘭芳在蘇聯的演出後深受感動，其後提出由梅蘭芳的演出而領悟到的「間離效果」戲劇理論，對近代西方戲劇影響深遠。]
片中也不提抗戰時梅蘭芳曾移居香港，亦不提孟小冬與他分手後和上海灘「教父」杜月笙相好，在香港結婚。
至於情敵槍殺案，真有其事，但改為情敵扮女人，則混淆不清。全片幸而上半部有姿采，拍出特色，可惜後勁不繼，整體戲劇性不及十多年前的《霸王別姬》。

Dear Iserlohn,
For the sake of drawing more revenue from markets beyond mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, producers of this film on Mei Lan Fang casted Leon Lai and Zhang Zi Yi as the two leading roles. Even I have not watched it, I guess it would be probably a failure. This comment may not be up to the point though.
Last night, I attended the first concert of HKPO China tour 2009 which featured L. van Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, op. 62 and Concerto for Pianoforte and Orchestra No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 37 and G. Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 in C Sharp Minor. Chen Sa, who was at the solo piano, did exhibit the kind of stage manner and artistry that one would have expected. As for Mahler’s 5th, I tried hard to immerse myself in going through the journey, however, the ‘overly well-known’ adagietto did not move me as it should have. I still recall the performance of the same piece a couple of years ago by the National Youth Orchestra of Canada in Vancouver, British Columbia under the baton of Kazuyoshi Akiyama.
